New to Blogging?
So am I! It’s been an exciting, but sometimes confusing, journey. I have had to learn the parts of a blog, what each does, and how to navigate my way around. It occurred to me that you might like a tour of this site, so that you can easily find and read what you need, and see how to post comments when you’re ready to join in the conversation.
The front page of my blog contains a summary of all my posts to date. They appear in order, from newest to oldest. (This was confusing to me at first, but it’s standard for blogs, I’ve learned.) Since only the summary appears on the home page, you need to click either on the title of the post, or on the “more” button at the end of that post to go to the page that contains the entire post. After reading it, you can go back to the home page by clicking on the “Change Thinking” logo at the top of the page, or you can go to another post in several ways, all of which are located in the column that runs down the right side of every page:
Search: Type a word in the box and click “Enter.”
Most Popular Posts: The most popular one is listed first. Just click on one to read it.
Archives: All the posts are listed here by title. Click on a title to read that blog.
Category: Choose a category and you’ll be taken to a page where all the posts in that category have been gathered for your convenience.
The Tag “Cloud”: See that group of words at the bottom of the column? This is a way of showing you what I’ve written the MOST about (and the least). Hover your cursor over one of the words, and you’ll see how many posts include that word. Click on a word to go to the compilation page.
How to leave a comment
Click on “Leave a comment” under any blog post on the front page, and it will take you to the individual page for that post. If you’re already on the individual posting page, just scroll to the bottom, where you’ll see several boxes for entering text. Type in your name and email address and start talking!
Want to subscribe?
If you already use a news feeder like Bloglines, just click on the orange RSS feed button in the column on the right side of the page. If you’d rather be notified by email when something new is posted, enter your email address and click on the “subscribe” button. You’ll get a confirmation email, so be sure to click on the link in that email to get your subscription started.
Need to talk to me?
Sometimes readers want to say something, but it’s either unrelated to a topic, or it’s too sensitive to post publicly. If this is the case, feel free to click on my email address in the right-hand column and send me a note.
Want to share or save the blog?
Click on the green “sharethis” button at the bottom of any blog and you’ll see about dozens of to share it or save it: email, LinkedIn, Twitter, Delicious, Digg, Facebook, etc.
Need to print a page?
Simply press Ctrl + p to bring up the print menu.
Seeing red?
When you see red text almost anywhere in the blog, it means the text is a link. Clicking on a red word in a post will take you to the glossary or to another post where that word is defined. Click on a phrase like “last post,” and it will take you there! If a red word or phrase is a link, you’ll be able to tell, because when you hover your cursor over that word or phrase, the arrow icon will change to a hand.
Just let me know if you have other questions.
