Pregnancy is a time where hormonal coupled with various physical changes are common. It is a scenario where you need to take care of yourself in the best possible manner. HCG along with estrogen are some of the hormones which help your body prepare for childbirth but below are mentioned some hormones which performs the dual role of pregnancy along with non-pregnancy functions at the same time.
Oxytocin
It is referred to as the hormone of love along with emotional bonding. This hormone is present through the stages of pregnancy, and in the first year or so after your pregnancy. This hormone goes on to predict strong bonding behaviour between mothers along with kids. In the starting stages of labor, in your uterus contractions, tend to arise because of the rising levels of this hormone.
Once the baby is born, the function of the hormone is to ensure that the uterus keeps on contracting, so that the placenta is being pushed out of the uterus. It does close off the blood vessels which are attached to it. In hindsight the uterus normally shrinks back to its original size as well. Higher levels of this hormone doenhance the attachment level between mothers along with the babies and it paves way for let-down reflex.
Relaxin
This is the hormone which does indicates that it is the time to loosen up. Even when you are not pregnant this hormone is present in your body but at a much lower level. At this point of time relaxin does help you with implantation with the evolution of the placenta, and does prevent any form of preterm birth. When does relaxin peak during pregnancy is also a cause of concern as it is going to have an impact on your renal or cardiovascular systems.
Once you go on to reach the end of your pregnancy, what this hormone does is that it prepares your body for delivery by softening the vagina along with the cervix and in the process do relax the uterine muscle. If you are confronted with the question on when does relaxin peak during pregnancy it is going to pave way for inflammation and your feet could also become much bigger.
Prolactin
The milk production hormone as it is commonly referred to as. One of the main functions of this hormone which tends to increase around 10 to 20 times during the course of pregnancy is to enhance the production of milk. It is achieved by preparing the breasts for the process of lactation. Once the baby is born, the levels of this hormone tend to rise and this is where the production of milk tends to start. But to ensure that the levels of this hormone are maintained along with the production of milk, you would need to pump or breastfeed the baby. Both these actions are going to increase the stimulation of the hormone whereby the milk glands are encourage to produce more and more milk.
